The Computer Users Group has been meeting, since the end of February 2007, in the Conference and Computer Training Suite – a spacious, modern, air-conditioned facility for staff training, presentations and IT workshops that has been created above the Café Unity in the centre of Heald Green.


Currently, there are four two-hour morning meetings per month. It is mostly our more experienced computer users who attend the workshops on the second and fourth Mondays of the month and those less experienced, receive training on the second and fourth Tuesdays.


Using fast Broadband Internet-connected Pentium 4 PCs operating Windows XP – and equipped with Microsoft Office 2007, Internet Explorer plus common plugins including Acrobat Reader, Quicktime, Shockwave, Flash and Java –
the Group’s members are able to watch video demonstrations or follow step-by-step computing instruction on a large screen image via an overhead VGA digital projector linked to a dedicated tutorial computer.
